John has been a seminal visionary in the field of ecological design for many decades — first as co-founder of the New Alchemy Institute, then as president of Ocean Arks International and professor of Ecological Design at the University of Vermont. This newsletter chronicles his story and vision.
My mission is to create planetary healing through promoting ecological literacy and the dissemination of vital eco-technologies. My dream as an ecological designer is to link projects and people across the globe in a mutually reinforcing whole. My goal is to undertake landscape and ocean restoration on a larger scale than in the past. I want to demonstrate environmental repair, carbon sequestration, and climate stabilization.
Through this newsletter I hope to share my stories, knowledge and plans from a life spent devoted to healing the earth. I strive to build community around solution-based ecological systems that benefit both people and our planet. Please join me and follow along our journey.
John Todd
Over the last 40 years, Dr. John Todd and his wife, Nancy Jack Todd published a quarterly newspaper called Annals of Earth that supported them and their non-profit Ocean Arks International. Contents were solution oriented and it rarely reported on ecological problems without including ways in which people are tackling and solving them. Annals was sent to supporters and members of Ocean Arks International three times a year. The pandemic impacted the publication and while it may have a revival in the future, Stories of Healing Earth will continue its legacy of supporting the great work in offering profound global solutions to the ecological crises of our era.
